Jon came to Burke in 2013 after 12 years at nearby St. Johnsbury Academy where he served as Social Studies Department Chair, head dorm parent, and Director of the Outing Club. He lives in East Burke with his wife, Jen, and son, Liam.

After 12 years of teaching in local private and public schools, Viv found her way to BMA in 2005 and now considers her position at Burke to be the ideal job. She and her husband, Dave, live on a 200-acre property in Waterford that they manage for wood, wildlife, and recreation.

Prior to coming to Burke, Dave taught history for six years at Kennett High School in Conway, N.H. He completed graduate study in American History at the University of New Hampshire, which he attended on a James Madison Memorial Fellowship. He and his wife, Rachel, are dorm parents in Heib.

 

Ben Clarke

Ben came to Burke in 2014 from Lyndon Institute where he taught English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), but he also has extensive experience teaching French at St. Michael’s College. He lives in East Haven with his two sons.

Francesca has over 20 years experience with educational programs and the arts, including personal interest in mosaics, hot glass, jewelry, architecture, watercolors, textiles, photography, and graphic design. Her work can be viewed in galleries, residences, and businesses nationwide, and one of her pieces was selected for inclusion in the National Mosaic Exhibit. She lives in East Burke with her husband in a home built out of 60% recycled materials.

VARA Board of Directors, Vermont Alpine Officials Committee Chairperson

A lifelong Nordic skier, David has spent two decades working at ski academies. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he runs the timing system at our races and was honored in 2005 as the VARA Official of the Year, and in 2014 as the VARA Volunteer of the Year. Born and raised in Syracuse, he now resides in East Burke.

Jim joined BMA in 2016.  After beginning his career in Outdoor Education, Jim has taught English and Religious Studies and Philosophy at public and private schools in California, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.  Jim, his wife, Rachel, and daughter Miriam are dorm parents in Woods House.

Lauren Struck

Lauren joined the BMA community in 2004 teaching science, directing college placement, and assisting in the timing building on race days. She also served as Academic Director before deciding to focus on helping Burkies find their next path upon graduation. She lives in Sutton with her husband, Jamie, and two children, McKinley and Holden.

An All-American Nordic skier who competed in the World Junior Championships in 1991, Lindley previously worked at the Holderness School in N.H. where she taught and coached. She lives in Burke Hollow with her husband, Tiaan, and two young children, Linden and Stella.
