Please join us in congratulating Burke Mountain Academy’s class of 2019! Festivities kicked off on Friday night with dinner for the seniors, their parents, and staff at the Head’s House. Saturday evening the BMA community gathered to celebrate the Class of 2019 in the tent which was transformed into Mount Olympus. Guests were treated to traditional Greek dishes served by gods and goddesses (the Junior Class). Per tradition, early Sunday morning a handful of students and staff ran around the mountain and returned to campus wet, muddy, and cheerful, reports were that conditions were “soupy” but fun. The Graduation Ceremony was held in the tent at 10 am and in true Burkie style, each senior was graduated by fellow Burkies. History Teacher David Chamberlain gave the commencement address which discussed the importance of gambling and he closed by encouraging the graduates to “dare to eat a peach”. Read his full speech here. The weekend drew to a close with the entire BMA community invited to a celebration at the Tempson Barn hosted by the senior families. Everyone gathered to enjoy lawn games, beautiful views, good food, dancing and most importantly each other. Hugs and well wishes were plentiful and capped off another special Burkie celebration.
