I hope this note finds everyone well and that Spring is starting to find you. I don’t think we’ll be seeing warm temperatures here in NH for some time.
I wanted to send you a quick note as we have some news worth celebrating. I had the opportunity last week to attend the technical events at US National Championships at Sugarloaf, ME to watch some of the action in person. While it was great to see some high quality racing and catch up with folks from around the country, the highlight of the event was learning that Steve Berlack has been named USSA Coach of the Year!
As you may be aware, Steve’s boys cleaned up at U18 Nationals last month in Colorado and he has had a tremendous run this season. In watching him in action last week at Sugarloaf, I was reminded of all the things that make Steve an exceptional coach. He’s incredibly attuned to each one of his athletes, making sure that their pre-race routine is just right, always managing the start so that they are fully comfortable and pumped to race. He has an incredible rapport with his team. He’s constantly looking for the right opportunity for each one of his athletes in the race schedule and is relentless in making sure that they are covering all the details in their equipment set-up. I’m sure that Steve’s experience in helping Ronnie achieve his dreams of making it to the US Ski Team is a huge driving force in knowing how critical it is to give his best to each one of his athletes. It’s very appropriate that Steve’s accomplishments are being recognized by his peers.
As a community, we should be very proud to have a coach on our staff who is being noticed as one of the best in his craft. More importantly, I think we would all agree that we are tremendously fortunate to have someone of Steve’s character acting as a mentor for our boys.
