It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that BMA alumni parent Jeff Shiffrin passed away on February 2, 2020. Jeff was the loving husband of Eileen and doting father of Taylor ‘ 11 and Mikaela ’13. We send our thoughts and deepest condolences to them and the entire family.
“I am remembering Jeff Shiffrin as a kind, humble, and generous man. He had an innate ability to transfer the bedside manner he displayed as a renowned anesthesiologist, to his everyday life. Confident, caring, and compassionate.
As a ski racing parent, we were all thrilled with his race photography. He would stay on the hill for every boy and every girl, creating great action photos for all to see on his photography website. BMA kids could count on all the pictures being posted on Monday morning after the race weekend. He was a great photographer, and generous of heart to stay on the hill long after his own kids had taken their run.” shared Steve Berlack, longtime BMA staff member and alumni parent.
Mikaela offered a fitting tribute to him on social media saying “My family is heartbroken beyond comprehension about the unexpected passing of my kindhearted, loving, caring, patient, wonderful father. Our mountains, our ocean, our sunrise, our heart, our soul, our everything. He taught us so many valuable lessons…but above everything else, he taught us the golden rule: be nice, think first. This is something I will carry with me forever. He was the firm foundation of our family and we miss him terribly… Thank you, from the depths of my heart, for respecting my family’s privacy as we grieve during this unimaginable and devastating time.”
The family welcomes notes or video messages of support from Burke alumni. Please contact Jodi Flanagan at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
