December Development Camp
December camp 2016 is now closed, please check back in August for 2017 camp information!
Burke Mountain Academy hosts an annual December Development Camp for 10-14 year old (U12-U16) USSA ski racers seeking a high-quality, early season training opportunity. Enrollment is limited and requires an application process based on results from the previous competition season. The December Development Camp is a primary admissions tool for BMA: over 75% of past and current BMA students have attended this camp in advance of their enrollment. Many of our currently enrolled U16 and U14 athletes participate in this camp throughout their time at Burke. At the camp, racers stay in the Burke Mountain Academy dorms, eat meals in our dining hall, train with BMA coaches and alumni (including former national team athletes and coaches) on our dedicated training hill, and compete in a fun giant slalom race on the final day.
2016 December Development Camp Information (Dec. 16-19)
This three-day camp includes fundamental work through technical free-skiing, slalom and GS. On the final day of camp, there will be a two-run GS race and raffle. In addition, campers will be exposed to BMA coaches, student-athletes, and campus life: let your kids live life as a Burkie for a few days!
We will have two on-snow training sessions daily, video analysis, a tuning clinic, and presentations by past and current BMA students, staff and alumni who also happen to be past U.S. Ski Team members.
This camp is size-limited to ensure the highest quality athlete pool and an effective coach-to-athlete ratio. We use an application process to select participants. Aspiring alpine athletes born between 2002-2006 are encouraged to apply: in some cases, younger athletes may be selected but required to stay off-campus with parents for the duration of the camp. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
December 16 – Arrival, Registration, and Move In to dorm rooms between 4-6 P.M.
December 17 – Slalom progression AM and PM
December 18 – GS progression AM and PM
December 19 – 2 run GS race followed by lunch for campers and families, awards and raffle
Application deadline October 15th!
